We really liked this place - lovely and spacious house that looked small from outside, but is so comfortable and nice inside. Everything was clean, bed is comfortable, well equipped kitchen, clear instructions about most important things and also additional information about Icelandic traditions. :) Very nice location - the view from windows is amazing - a lake, mountain and church. Very good experience, highly recommend this place!

The bedrooms were big and spacy.
Breakfast was not officialy included in the price, but it turned out that there was coffee/tea, milk, cereals and jam. You only needed to add bread yourself.
There was a refridgerator, dishes/cutleri and a table, where you could eat.
The owner was extremely kind and serviceminded.

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

Small, quiet (at this time of year) but very peaceful and beautiful! We caught our best show of the northern lights here! Also, would highly recommend Narfreyrarstofa for dinner, delicious and great atmosphere!

I loved the small-town vibe and charming Icelandic architecture located on an active harbour. Beautiful ocean views from the harbour-adjacent island walk! Enjoyed soaking at the local pool/hot pots, and happy to have a bakery, grocery store, and restaurants to choose from for meals. I would gladly stay here again, or for more than one night to see some of the local museums which were closed over Easter weekend.

The staff was excellent and very accommodating. They knew the area well and could recommend meals and other services to us. We ate at a very nice fish restaurant where the one waitress ran the entire restaurant efficiently and in a timely fashion.Great food

Great location on north side of peninsula.
Great location on north side of peninsula. Wish we’d had more time to explore. Excellent northern lights viewing near the lighthouse. Go up the stairs toward the lighthouse and turn left to block harbor lights.

It is a nice little town by the sea.
It is a nice little town by the sea. There is a small hill by the harbor you can climb that offers beautiful views. There are also a few restaurants, cafes, shops and museums but it is also nice to just walk around.
i would love to say a huuuge THANK You for the owner(Skarph ?) to having us in this beautiful gem. loved this cosy , super clean warm hotel.
we arrived there at 29 may, booked the cheapest priced room, but the owner upgraded us because the hotel was not fully booked that day.
i was so happy. :) so we got the room 7 with a wonderful harbor view.
i would definitely recommend this Hotel to everyone who would love to spend time in Stykkyholmur.
oh!!! and dont forget to drink coffee there :) it sooo tasty :)
Hubby and I had a great one night stay here. We were always greeted with a smile by the staff. Everyone was friendly. The hotel had a homey, comfortable feel. Our room was very clean. I loved the decor of the hotel and our room. Dinner was delicious and a nice portion. Breakfast, was light, just enough to get your day started and not feel heavy. There is also a sweet deck area with amazing views. We would definitely come back.
P.S. To our surprise we even captured the Northern lights. SCORE!!
This was the first and in many ways the best hotel during our 10-night Iceland tour. The staff was very friendly, and they responded to my messages quickly. The room was clean, beds comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely superb: there were plenty of options (both yummy and healthy) suitable for all (including even vegetarian ones), a good coffee machine, and the best carrot cake I have ever tasted! The location of the hotel is also very handy, next to the harbor.
After nearly two weeks in Iceland our stay at Helgafell will go down as one of our absolute favorites. The privacy and coziness of Lara’s cabin were everything we could have asked for on a getaway with everything you need to make yourself at home. Abundant linens, warm water, privacy curtains, a place to park, a two burner cooktop, and plentiful heaters helped make it a perfect stay.
Nice little cottage/apartment in the outskirts of Stykkishólmur. It has all the facilities with a mini kitchenette where you can cook. Has a nice sofa and overall well maintained.
I had read reviews that had expressed concerns about the bedroom in the attic which is almost like crawling space, but we had no problems with it.
Overall, a nice stay with great value for money.
The location, the welcome and the design/feeling at the Hotel was exemplary. Very friendly staff greeting us and a warm, comfortable vibe in the lobby area made us feel at home quickly. We had a nice room on the 1st floor that was super cozy and nicely decorated - bed was very nice to sleep on :)
Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and delicious.
So happy that this was our first stop on our Iceland roadtrip. The hotel was very cosy, clean and rooms seemed to be recently done up, too. Big thanks to Sarah and Tim for all the conversations, suggestions and insider advice that only locals can give :) Also really loved the family vibe with guests chatting at the breakfast table.
Krisztina was EXTREMELY helpful and accommodating to help us after we experienced some travel issues which delayed us getting to town. The beds were great, the shower was undoubtedly the best I experienced during my time in iceland, and the breakfast the next morning was the icing on the cake. You should absolutely stay at Akkeri!
This is, without doubt, one of the best stays I`ve had in Iceland. The host was very kind and helpful. Cottages and hotel rooms were very clean. They provide all the kitchen appliances you need. Great location, I would definitely spent more days there if I had time.
That was one of the best hotels I stayed in Iceland so far. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Hotel is located on the hill with an amazing view. We were also lucky to see Northern Lights. Everything was amazing and I definitely recommend this hotel.
The guesthouse is so beautiful and well located.
The common area is spacious and nicely decorated as the room.
The bed was comfortable.
The bathroom was very clean.
The staff was very nice.
We did the check in in the hotel near the guesthouse.
Super responsive host, contactless check in, gorgeous sea views, comfy bed, great shower, well-equipped kitchen, free parking, walkable to restaurants and town, quiet and comfortable, in-unit laundry; one of the best places we stayed in Iceland
located in the center of the beautiful village of Stykkishólmur, our entry point to the route in Snæfellsjökull peninsula, a must see in Iceland. comfortable, clean room and bathroom. Great breakfast at fare price. Helpful host.
One of the better hotels we encountered in iceland that had a great value for money.
Great location, kind staff and very good breakfast.
Nice views from the room.
The location is beautiful, very quiet with nice views. The hotel is cosy with nice staff and a small restaurant. The room with bathroom was nice and clean.
